Transition Ottawa

Building Community Resilience Through Action

Hi Everyone!

Thank you to all who replied to my post - I really appreciate your warmth with me. I'm so thrilled to be networked with all of you. To answer your question, the name of the Facebook group I have created is: "Transition Town Ottawa Canada"

What are your thoughts on having a youth committee? I was thinking about leveraging the Facebook group to reach out to Ottawa youth/students/etc.

Take care :)

Hi Andrea,
It's really important to reach out to youth. Of all people, they most need positive visions and ways to contribute their great energy that makes sense to them. A youth committee would be great. Although it's a rather serious predicament our youth are inheriting, the solutions can still be funky, fun and inspired.
See Sustainable Trent for an example of what's being done on one Canadian campus. / jd
Hi Kaia,

Yes, it does seem like a serious predicament for youth, however I believe that we're up for the challenge - we've pretty much been raised hearing nothing but buzz words about recycling, pollution, global warming, whole in the ozone layer, etc. We've been made aware at young age that the route society is on is not sustainable...
I agree, we can make the solutions fun - and I intend to inspire my peers...
I welcome any ideas you might have, and really appreciate your support :)
Thanks for the tip! :)
Hi Noriega,
Re your comment on reaching out to students, you might be interested in this event. It holds the promise of bringing together students who are already interested in sustainability issues.
Thanks! It looks great....I appreciate it :)
Andrea;
Thanks for creating the facebook group.

Is there any way you could add the Peak Oil Discussion Group as a group event or make me an admin so that I could?

I am hoping to tie the two groups together more closely. I personally don't have any ties with the Sierra Club but would like to get more involved with Transition Ottawa. I think this discussion group fits in perfectly.

Cheers
