I've been in touch with Bill Shields and Jane Lindsay about this project, and now want to extend the invitation in general to consider signing up for a congregational-and-local-community CSA (community-shared agriculture) local food project initiated by the Environmental Working Group at First Unitarian Congregation -- near Richmond and Woodroffe.
We have two farmers interested in delivering weekly boxes of produce in season in 2010. Both are asking how many people would be taking delivery, so we are in a sign-up phase, or at least an "expression of interest in signing up" phase. There's no commitment or payment involved just your name and contact info. as "interested".
We'll be choosing one of these farmers later this winter and then will be in contact with those on the list as interested to see if they want to make a commitment.
If you want more information on this project, you can follow developments through the congregation's website, firstunitarianottawa.ca. Just click on Stay Connected, then the latest issues of the newsletter, Parkway Spire.
Or respond to this post and I'd be happy to fill you in.
Would the Unitarian Church Environmental Working Group consider being the drop-off point for the Eastern Ontario Local Food coop? Great way to support local farmers and producers in the region
