Comment by Ron St. Louis on September 4, 2012 at 11:38pm Thanks for posting this, Adam. The only thing I personally think he's missing from this 3rd Industrial Revolution is how to deal with modern agriculture. I think if we De-industrialize agriculture and move towards more locally produced models based on permaculture ethics and principals, we could be well on our way not only to a great industrial revolution but also a great step in our specie's evolution.
Comment by Adam F. on September 4, 2012 at 7:32pm I found this video on TVO and it focussed on peak oil but also a third industrial revolution which I found "compelling". Let me know what you think!
EIA Washington has revised figures back to 1985. Global production has been Stuck below 74mbpd since 2005.
Production from conventional sources worldwide has peaked. Most people I follow say it happened in 2005. Some good sites to look into for references: http://energybulletin.net and ASPO: http://www.peakoil.net
Comment by Ron St. Louis on April 4, 2012 at 11:59am Welcome. Sorry Adam. I don't necessarily keep up to date on all of the actual reserve status. For that type of info I highly recommend checking out The Oil Drum at http://www.theoildrum.com/frontpage.
Besides that, one of the best things I've seen on Energy, Environment and Economy is Chris Martenson's "The Crash Course" http://www.chrismartenson.com/crashcourse. It is long (and kinda like a boring slideshow) but I have found it to truly be the best and most understandable peice out there. I appreciate that format over the modern documentary because it doesn't throw in all the emotional/political/conspiracy nonsense and sticks to the hard facts.
Looking forward to meeting.
Comment by Adam F. on April 4, 2012 at 11:46am I'm looking for some information. My understanding is that conventional oil reserves have or will peak and that what we are using now is mostly unconventional forms like tight oil, offshore and tarsands. Do you know if conventional sources have peaked already?

Also of note: Nicole Foss is scheduled to do another updated talk November 15th at St Paul University. More details at http://transitionottawa.ning.com/events/deflation-versus-hyperinfla...
If you haven't heard Nicole's presentation yet this is not to be missed. Always engaging, Nicole's presentation and commentary is priceless to hear again and again.
Comment by Ron St. Louis on September 21, 2011 at 12:30pm This month I am happy to do a demo on Homebrewing beer. I'm definitely no expert but at the very least I can show you how easy it is to make tasty beer and you could have a chance to sample some of my past labours and get a bit of hands on experience.
This will be done in my kitchen and space is very limited and already nearly full so please RSVP right away via email/message if you are interested.
Homebrewing basics
Sept 27 7pm sharp to 9pm (or later).
Ron's place near St. Laurent Shopping Centre.
More details to those who RSVP.
Cheers
Ron St. Louis
PS: Did I happen to lend out my book "Earth User's Guide to Permaculture"? I seem to have misplaced it. I'm in no rush to get it back.
