Stoneleigh speaks at the Transition Network Conference 2010

Advertised at the conference as:

"Peak Oil and the collapse of global Ponzi finance are a “perfect storm” of converging phenomena that threaten to sink our age of prosperity

through wealth destruction, social discontent, and global conflict.

Nicole will describe how our current financial system is an

unsustainable credit bubble grounded in “Ponzi dynamics,” or the logic

of the pyramid scheme. She warns that most people are…

I Heart Hank and Vera Jones.

If you live in the Ottawa area you may have heard of Hank and Vera Jones. They were in the news last summer. The couple have turned most of their half acre yard around their Constance Bay home into a pollinator garden.

The Personal vs the Political- Why Sharon Astyk isn't Bright Green and Alex Steffen Thinks We Should Be Faster, Bigger and More Complex

I read two very interesting articles today. One by Alex Steffen of World Changing, the other a response to Steffen written by Sharon Astyk of Casaubon's Book.

Both are well written, thought provoking and provide two very different approaches to resiliency and sustainability.

They are well worth the read!

You can find Alex's article

Pantry Love

I desperately needed more pantry space, and my boss who is preparing to downsize to a smaller home, had two shelving units to get rid of. Thus the Unstuffed Pantry has come to be!

Whoops. I was going to trash your email, thinking it was spam, but a little transition birdie told me to check it out.

Thanks, I will definitely look at the link. And maybe I will contact a couple of organization, such as the David Suzuki Foundation, to see if there are already any initiatives afoot around standard size and shape reusable containers. If I find out anything, I will let you know.
