Call For Feasibility Investigations: Summer 2014 Trips to Balaclava, ON (Ghost Town-to-Ecovillage?) and/or Bridgetown, NS (Church to Cooperative Housing, Workspace & Community-space?)

Announcing a proposal, as mentioned on The Town's page, for one or two trips-- one to Balaclava, Ontario (open to considering visiting other ghost towns that might be in the area) and/or one to Bridgetown, Nova Scotia for sometime this summer (2014), in the interest of investigating the possibility/feasibility…

Austerity For Oil (Or Not)?

Maybe it's just me, but it appears that, around the world, governments are increasingly reallocating money (sometimes in curious ways, i.e., pre-emptively? Well maybe not pre-emptively, since protests have begun.) from wherever and whatever programmes (Tuition?…

Video Embedding

Over the weekend I'd been experimenting with faster load times and more efficient sizing/displays for embedded videos, and just thought to share with you some results, in case you're interested and think you might have the need:

You probably already know this, but in any case...

For the embedded code, you can adjust the height and width after it's pasted.

Hmmm...  Can't recall exactly when I stumbled upon the article about the first home.  (I'm a bit of an information junkie.)  This was the original article that I "favorited": http://greenbuildingelements.com/2008/12/01/hand-build-an-earth-sheltered-house-for-5000/?ref=nf  Then I visited his website for more pics:  http://www.simondale.net/house/index.htm

I absolutely love the vid you sent.  Everything I own would work perfectly in that gorgeous home (and the story was lovely as well).

I'm a small town Northern Ontario grrrll who lived in the forest for 4 years before moving to Ottawa, and who more recently lived in Nigeria, so I'm definitely OK with living simply and without the usual creature comforts.  It's the anonymity I'll miss, methinks. ;)

I think I'm attending tomorrow evening's event...to see what's what and meet a few of the transitioners.  Have you been to any of these?
