I have read The Transition Handbook, so when I discovered that Ottawa has its own Transition, I was thrilled and decided to sign up right away. I want to live in a much more sustainable, compassionate world. I already do things to help the environment, so it seemed pretty logical to join.

1) More farmer's markets, fundraisers, Ottawa-based groups, vegetable gardens, and environmental initiatives.
2) More slow-paced lifestyle in which people can stop and talk on the street, ask favours of each other, etc.
3) Less cars and trucks; more people taking the bus or riding a moped.
