Profile Information

What attracted you to become a member?
Attending the pre-holiday get together and realising that I would like to participate in more events.
If you are from the Ottawa area, in what neighbourhood area do you live (i.e. Nepean, Centre Town, Glebe, Vanier, etc.)
Beacon Hill
Would you like to be part of a transition initiative in your neighbourhood?
Yes
What issues are you interested in (Check as many as apply)?
Home energy power down, Local food resilience, Greening Ottawa, Public transport
What are your skills (Professional and amateur)?
I was trained as a chemical engineer, and am currently at home with my children. I grew up on a potato and beef cattle farm in BC. I grow a garden and preserve some of my own food. I volunteer with Ottawa Public Health to promote breastfeeding as a Breastfeeding Buddy.
How would you like to see Ottawa look and feel in the future?
I would like to see more bicycle infrastructure and fewer cars. More food gardens and less grass. More community get togethers and fewer trips to the mall. I would love to see Ottawa acting as several small areas working together for the bigger issues, but allowing smaller communities to be able to achieve their own goals as well.
What part would you like to contribute to this?
I would personally like to help to encourage more food gardens and community events.
If you could create your ideal participation with Transition Ottawa, what would it be?
Something that I could do from close to home and with my family. Ideally during the day.
