What attracted you to become a member?
I have wanted to build up Ottawa's resilience and sustainbility for a long time. I am so happy to discover that it is happening.
If you are from the Ottawa area, in what neighbourhood area do you live (i.e. Nepean, Centre Town, Glebe, Vanier, etc.)
Would you like to be part of a transition initiative in your neighbourhood?
What issues are you interested in (Check as many as apply)?
Home energy power down, Local food resilience, Solar/wind energy, Community building, Greening Ottawa, Reskilling
What are your skills (Professional and amateur)?
Business and Organizational change promoter; business process improvement; sustainability assessments; sustainability training; organic vegetable gardening; native plant gardening; Vars Community Association Director; IT Management Consultant; horse owner and rider; trail builder; Electronic Newsletter writer.
How would you like to see Ottawa look and feel in the future?
I would like to see Ottawa self-sufficient in food production by growing food in the green belt and in any available land.

I'd like to see Ottawa saving grest deals of energy by promoting cycling walking and public transport;

I'd like to see Ottawa become the innovation capital for greening its existing and future real estate.

I'd like to feel all Ottawans stretching out and valuing its fantastic natural environments.
What part would you like to contribute to this?
I would like to work on building the connections and knowledge for sustainable agriculture.

I'd like to involve the business community in reaching the goal of Transition Ottawa.
If you could create your ideal participation with Transition Ottawa, what would it be?
Providing training, facilitating at networking sessions; helping communicate the message and inspiring the achievement of TOs goals.

Francine, thank you for asking me to join the Vars SLO page. My interests and knowledge will hopefully help in the development of a shared equestrian trail through Vars. I can make contributions to discussions regarding the effect horses have on the land , assessment of the environment, and help in the steps necessary to ensure the preservation of the ecology.

Hi Francine -- It would be great to meet you sometime when you are in the downtown-ish area. One of the Sustainable Living Ottawa East projects is the Children's Garden and it sounds like some of your skills and interests would be great to have on board in that initiative if that is of interest. And/or we could do a bit of initial exploration on things that might fly in Vars.
