- Home energy power down, Local food resilience, Solar/wind energy, Greening Ottawa, Joyous simple living
- What are your skills (Professional and amateur)?
- Environmental engineering (particular focus in wastewater treatment and stormwater management), home energy power down, basic gardening.
- How would you like to see Ottawa look and feel in the future?
- I would like Ottawa neighborhood hubs connected by enchanting walking trails, Ottawa backyards lush with vegetable and flower gardens and rich in biodiversity, roofs not gray but rather green, lawns converted to naturalized gardens or mowed quietly using reel mowers, rainwater captured using rain barrels for use both indoors and outdoors and domestic organic waste either composted at home or placed in the green bin. I would like people to re-connect with their neighbors in sharing tools, food, skills and create friendships.
- What part would you like to contribute to this?
- Adopting city parks to act as a place for group members to meet and share skills. Ideally, in consultation with the City of Ottawa we could do some landscaping work in the parks to add edible and native plants. I'm also interested in creating a "Sustainable Living Blackburn Hamlet" type group.

Never give in
It is easy to get discouraged watching/reading the news these days. We may lose hope and feel that our individual actions do not matter. But we cannot give up. I believe that with every new environmental/social/economic disaster news story, more people get to realize we are going in the wrong direction. Here is an analogy by Mike Nickerson:
