It is easy to get discouraged these days by reading the news. But this is exactly when we need to be most active! As people witness the failing of our society's systems, we need to clearly remind people that we are heading in the wrong direction and present the other options. Otherwise, confused people will try to keep pushing in the same direction by bailing out more companies, invading more resource-rich countries, taking on more debt…

It is easy to get discouraged watching/reading the news these days. We may lose hope and feel that our individual actions do not matter. But we cannot give up. I believe that with every new environmental/social/economic disaster news story, more people get to realize we are going in the wrong direction. Here is an analogy by Mike Nickerson:
