Here is the text of a letter I sent to Mayor Jim Watson:
Jim,
You may recall that we met around June, when you were running for election. I am a member of Sustainable Living Ottawa East (SLOE), and Transition Ottawa. My purpose in asking to meet with you was to alert you to our concern about the drastic changes that will come with increasing impacts of global warming and…

Thanks for the message re: community garden. Would love to hear about how you approached the city to broach the subject of putting a community garden in a city park. I'm looking at Windsor Park. (I think you could fit 3 community gardens here!). Please feel free to contact me at bellybuh_AT_yahoo.ca.
Cheers,
Lori
I'm a Master of Journalism student at Carleton University. I'm working on a magazine feature on Transition Ottawa. I spoke with Kaia Nightengale earlier today and she suggested I contact you. I'd really like to speak with you based on what she told me. I was willing if you'd be willing to do an in-person interview (preferably at your home) and allow me to attend a SLOE meeting. You can reach me at erikaJgilbert@gmail.com or 613-204-3048. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have.
Thank you, and I hope to speak with you soon.

I'm really sorry about missing our meeting today. My husband and I took the day off to do some things for the house and while we were out, our car was pilaged. Needless to say, this set us back a bit. I would still be happy to meet if you're still interested.
5:00PM at the Beaverbrook CC will be fine. There's a few other places we could go but as you'll be at the CC anyway, it probably makes most sense just to meet there.
I live in Kanata - not far from Algonquin - so perhaps we could meet at Timothy's in the plaza across from the college. Monday's and Friday's are generally best for me.
Yes, I would be happy to speak with you. Is there anything in particular you would like to discuss?
Bob Stevenson told me on Sept. 23rd that you have consented to come talk to members of First Unitarian's Environmental Working Group and others about transitioning and sustainable living. We booked your talk for October 18th.
I look forward to meeting you!
