I need the USA to make the change. Canada is very close to having things right, which is why we have fewer banking problems. In the US every town has its own little private banker who makes deals with everyone - everyone with money. The greatest benefit to having only one bank in the country that everyone owns is that there would be very little crime possible. Now think of that on a global scale and realize that USD's are pretty universal.

We met 20 years ago. Since then I have been watching things change with Governments running up such large debts that the only way that they will ever get paid off is if the interest rate is, for all practical purposes, kept at zero.

My hope is that we will have an international agreement to overnight turn all Government Bonds into Government Notes and make interest illegal. The transition would be treating everyone equally. It would Nationalize all banks and turn all bankers into Government employees who could deduct a % of all deposits as a flat tax. This would free up the IRS and all the support staff so they would have time to spend with their kids.
