We didn't actually locate in a park. We have two plots, close together. One is on land which belongs to Saint Paul University; the other is on land owned by the Oblate order. If you know the corner of Main and Hazel, where the Green Door Restaurant is located, go east down the access road to the residences at Saint Paul (it's the continuation of Hazel St.). Where the lane turns right, one plot is almost straight ahead, and the other is about 100 m to the right.

The BUGS garden had to relocate from their site at Metcalfe and Catherine, which is now a construction site. They were supposed to establish in a part of Central Park by Glendale and Chamberlain. It didn't go ahead last year, but it's supposed to this year. Clive Doucet (Councillor) told me it has been one of the most contentious issues he's had to deal with.

But there has been another community garden in a city park for several years--Michelle Heights. The info on these is at and you can get information & advice from Terri O'Neill at Just Food. (

The offer of a chat and a visit is still available.

Cheers, Keith
