Profile Information

What attracted you to become a member?
Our family has been working on a family resilience project after reading Hungry City, The Transition Handbook, and How Your World is about to Become a Whole Lot Smaller.

If you are from the Ottawa area, in what neighbourhood area do you live (i.e. Nepean, Centre Town, Glebe, Vanier, etc.)
Glebe
Would you like to be part of a transition initiative in your neighbourhood?
Yes
What issues are you interested in (Check as many as apply)?
Home energy power down, Local food resilience, Community building, Greening Ottawa
What are your skills (Professional and amateur)?
Membership Coordinator of a community garden (BUGs Ottawa)
Teacher
Public Speaking
Organizing and motivating people
How would you like to see Ottawa look and feel in the future?
I really like the community spirit I feel downtown (rather than what I experienced in the suburbs). I would like to turn that spirit into a practical self-reliant community that is also happier in knowing each other and working together.
What part would you like to contribute to this?
I'd like to see what I could be involved in first. Likely interested in food sovereignty, local business outreach and transportation issues.
If you could create your ideal participation with Transition Ottawa, what would it be?
I am good at organizing people... finding out what their skills are and then tapping into them. I am also good at getting messages across. Again, I'd like to come to meetings and figure out where I fit in once I get to know the group and the projects.

Weedman, Me, and Transition Ottawa

Thanks to Transition Ottawa, I had a funny conversation when Weedman called my house last week.  Here is the link to the transcription of the call:
