Building Community Resilience Through Action

On Tuesday city councillors will hear from city staff on the findings of a study of how much greenhouse gas is being produced by our city.

There's good news and bad news but the hopeful news is that councillors may consider a motion that will take action to reduce the greenhouse gas we all produce.

What's important is that some councillors don't think this is a municipal issue even though it is in the Ottawa Official Plan and groups such as the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, ICLEI, and the C40 group of cities believe that it is. Because these councillors need encouragement, being at the Environment Committee meeting or emailing committee members is worthwhile. If you go to the meeting, bring a book because there's lots on the agenda other than this.

Takes place Tuesday June 19 at 9:30am in the Champlain Room at city hall.
